The number of FHOG applications for new housing recorded in May increased by 49% compared to April 2009.
Overall, the number of applications (new and established housing) increased from 2322 to 2946, a 27% increase, in the same period.
New housing is clearly benefiting from the FHOG Boost stimulus package, as more first home buyers realise the exceptional value being presented by builders in the market place.
In a similar vein, the number of FHOG grants paid in May increased from 656 to 773, an 18% increase. With the number of applications made in recent months continuing to increase, building approvals are set to continue to rise in coming months underpinning a recovery of the housing sector.
